High Touch - High Tech delivers 90 minute, in-school science field trips that transform your classroom into a Living Laboratory!
Kids become a scientist and learn by doing the actual experiments.

These programs are totally hands-on and meet the NCSCS objectives for Science. All of our programs are taught by degreed professionals.

High Touch - High Tech provides all equipment and materials in this supply intensive, educational experience. Upon completion of the field trip, students receive a cool science certificate and ALL programs provide create-and-keep experiments.

2011-2012 Prices:
The fee is $8.50 per student. There is a $320 daily/program minimum fee. Teachers and Parent Chaperones are encouraged to participate (free of charge).
Schools over 50 miles, may be subject to a 60 student minimum.

Kindergarten Programs
Weather Wizards©
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow in your classroom any time of the year! Touch a real tornado! Learn the different types of precipitation and use common tools to measure weather. Feel real clouds, learn to use a thermometer and take home your own snow ball.

Survive and Thrive©
Turn animal investigations into memorable experiences as Junior Scientists explore our "Cute and Crawly" petting zoo. Take a look at live animals and what makes them similar and different. Feel how fur protects you, see through the eyes of a bug, and learn how these amazing animals survive & thrive!

SENSE-sational Science©
Seeing isn't always believing as we experiment with properties of common objects. Compete in our "Smelling Bee" and participate in our "Taste Tests". Become a Super Sorting Scientist and make and take home your own rainbow crystal creation. Combine all 5 senses for a "Sense-sational" Eruption!

Design Time©
It's a fine time to use different tools and see how you "measure up". How many worms tall are you? Put on your safety goggles, become a Bubbleologist and make a bubble blowing tool. Junior Scientists will become "Measuring Maniacs" as we compare standard and nonstandard units of measure!

1st Grade Programs
Moovin' and Groovin'©
Get in the swing of things as we build an understanding of balance, motion, and the weighing of objects. Junior Physicists will launch rockets and conduct gravity defying experiments that are guaranteed to get you Moovin' and Groovin'!

Sticks and Stones©
Dig in and work hands-on as we explore the components of soil. Turn on your head-lamps as Junior Geologists pan for real gemstones of all shapes, sizes and colors. Sort, test and keep what you find. Get up close and personal with Earth materials from all around the world!

Matter Matters©
It's no simple matter... does it float or sink, dissolve or melt? Discover the properties of liquid as we make water molecules stick together. If you dare, stick your hand into our Mystery Box and classify solids according to color, texture and shape. Make Ooey-Gooey slime and watch matter erupt!

Our Living Planet©
Junior Scientists will become experts in the needs of plants and animals. Watch their faces glow as we grow a gigantic atmosphere and investigate animal evidence. Construct and keep a North Carolina habitat while discovering the importance of air, water, light and space.

2nd Grade Programs
What's the Matter©
Find out what really "Matters"! Have FUN as we explore solids, liquids, gases and even touch plasma. Discover the amazing changes in properties as you make ice cream, go ice fishing and experience an awesome eruption!

Weather or Not©
Watch out as we blast clouds all around the classroom! Prepare to be amazed by the power of air pressure. Observe weather using anemometers, thermometers, a rain gauge and more. Become an ultraviolet-light detective as you make your own solar-sensor.

Get Buggy©
Wiggly, weird and wacky... discover the incredible world of bugs. From egg to adult, journey through the life cycle of meal worms, ladybugs, crickets and frogs. Junior Entomologists will get to touch real live bugs and see through the eyes of insects. Make and take home your own animal souvenir.

Sounds Like Fun©
"Tune in" to the science of sound to discover vibrations and frequency. Build an ear drum, make stars dance and water fly! Chemically create slimy sounds in this totally hands-on experience. Make and take home your own musical instrument.

Zoom to the Moon©
Become an Astronaut as we explore the relationship between the Earth, Sun and the different phases of the Moon. Create "Glow-in-the-dark" constellations and experiment with light reflection and absorption. Have a BLAST launching rockets, even make and take home your own space mud.

Smarty Plants©
"Trans-plant" yourself into the wonderful world of Botany. Watch flowers change color right before your eyes! Design and grow your own "Plant Pal" with drought defending crystals. Journey through the life cycle of plants and dissect flowers to join the pollination party!

The Body Shop©
Get the "Bare Bone Facts" about the skeletal system on your journey to the Pediatrician's Office. Put on surgical gloves and have a hands-on look at real animal hearts, kidneys, eyeballs and more! Analyze your unique fingerprints. Learn the systems of the body to find out what makes us tick!

Earthworks©
Take a trip on a soil safari. "Get the Dirt" on sand, clay and humus as you prepare for the great worm race! Discover soil's super absorbing properties and become compost conscious. Experiment with our super-science-sand before assembling a soil snack.

Edison's Workshop©
Explore the amazing world of magnetism and electricity in a FUN and safe way. Learn what's "current" as electricity flows through your body! Build your own series and parallel circuits to produce light, heat, sound and magnetic effects. You will be "shocked" at all the "Hair-Raising", electrifying facts you'll discover.

Dig It©
"Rock on" into the wondrous world of Geology. Pan for real rocks, minerals and beautiful gemstones. Anything you find... you keep! Perform scratch tests, hardness tests and more as we classify our gems. Go on a real fossil excavation and get to the "core" of things as we discover the layers of the Earth.

Adaptation Station©
Explore the world of animal behavior and adaptation. Have fun while studying different live animals and witness our amazing chemical camouflage reaction. Create and keep an arctic habitat to house the adaptive animal you design. Do you have what it takes to win the battle of the bird beaks?

Food for Thought©
Get the essentials and become a food scientist as we experiment with "MyPlate". Extract iron from breakfast cereal and have fun as we test for starches, sugars and fat. Understand the importance of nutrients, use your acid breath to change colors, and chemically concoct your own "Slimy Saliva"!

Meteorology Madness©
Create clouds in the classroom and investigate the water cycle while building an understanding of global weather patterns.
